Appr. 0.85m long cable that provides an RS232 port (standard, appr. -/+ 8V voltage levels, compatible with VEMS ECUs) on computers with USB port (most notebooks nowadays lack builtin RS232 port).
The windows driver of this FTDI ("FT232") is better than the infamous prolific (pl2303 that has a windows driver which is often problematic and causes unstable connection), definitely this FTDI type is recommended.
For the curious, the cable is powered from the host's USB port and contains:
- USB chip: Prolific PL2303, FTDI FT232, or many others possible
- A powerful chip such as max232 (or equivalent chip) for voltage conversion
